Do you need an apostille before or after the translation?

A medical certificate is usually submitted with the certified translation by a TPA registered with MIRE, under Executive Decree 975 of 2017. Some consulates also ask for an apostille or authentication of the original. If yours does, that step goes on the original in the issuing country first, then comes the translation. Lingo does not apostille or authenticate documents; the issuing authority, a notary or a lawyer does. Visa certificates expire quickly, so translate close to your appointment.

The consulate or authority abroad decides what it accepts, including whether it also wants an apostille on the original, so confirm its requirements before you order.

Is my health information protected?

Yes. Your certificate is handled under Panama's Law 81 of 2019 on personal data protection: files are encrypted with AES-256 at rest, travel over TLS, and are deleted automatically 60 days after delivery. Only the TPA assigned to your order can open it, under a confidentiality and data processing agreement. Health information is sensitive, and we handle it that way.
