Background check

The FBI Identity History Summary, ACRO certificate or your home country's equivalent — apostilled at origin first, then translated in Panama with the apostille included.

Bank references and statements

Letters and statements evidencing the source of funds. Multi-page financial documents with tables are quoted on their real word count.

Civil certificates

Birth and marriage certificates when a spouse or dependents are included in the application. Translated in full, margin notes and apostilles included.

Frequently asked questions

Which Qualified Investor documents need translation?
Every supporting document issued in a language other than Spanish: your background check, bank reference letters, statements evidencing source of funds, and civil certificates for dependents. Panama's National Immigration Service only accepts translations signed and sealed by a TPA registered with MIRE.
Do the investment documents themselves need translating?
It depends on where they were issued. Title deeds, deposit certificates or securities records produced in Panama are already in Spanish and need no translation. Documents issued abroad in English — a foreign bank's confirmation, for example — do need a certified Spanish translation. Your attorney confirms which pieces form part of the file.
Should I apostille before or after translating?
Apostille the original first, in the country that issued it, then translate in Panama so the apostille appears inside the certified translation. Doing it the other way around means the apostille is missing from the translation and the file is usually sent back — which means paying for the translation twice.
Can I complete this from abroad before relocating?
