Certified safety data sheet (SDS) translation in Panama
A certified translation of a safety data sheet (SDS, also called MSDS) in Panama is signed and sealed by a Certified Public Translator (TPA) registered with MIRE, under Executive Decree 975 of 2017. It is priced by word, based on the length of its 16 sections, from $20 for the first 250 words. Importers usually need it to bring chemicals and other products into Panama, clear them through customs and meet workplace safety rules.
What do you need your safety data sheet translated for?
Imports and customs
Chemical substances and hazardous products entering Panama need their SDS in Spanish for customs clearance and registration.
Workplace safety
Occupational safety compliance calls for the sheets to be available in Spanish for the staff who handle the products.
Distribution and sales
Distributors and large clients ask for the translated SDS as part of the documentation that comes with each product.
How much does it cost?
A safety data sheet is priced by word: $20 covers the first 250-word page and each additional word adds $0.08, with no rounding up to full pages. Panama's 7% ITBMS tax is added on top. A complete 16-section SDS usually lands between $35 and $135, depending on its length; a 1,000-word sheet, for example, comes to $85.60 with tax. Product catalogs qualify for our business rate, with monthly invoicing.
How long does it take?
Standard delivery takes up to 3 business days. Express delivers in 1 business day (+50%), and Same-day (+100%) applies only when you pay before 11:00 a.m. and a translator is available. These timelines apply to documents of up to 10 pages (2,500 words); for longer documents we prepare a special volume price and confirm the timeline on WhatsApp. You see the exact timeline in your quote before paying.

Do you need an apostille before or after the translation?
A safety data sheet is technical documentation from the manufacturer, so it normally does not need an apostille. When customs or another authority asks for it in Spanish, the certified translation by a TPA registered with MIRE, under Executive Decree 975 of 2017, is usually enough. If your process calls for an extra step, we tell you in your quote. Lingo does not apostille documents; the issuing authority or your lawyer handles that.
