Do you need an apostille before or after the translation?

For degree recognition or credit transfer in Panama, the transcript is usually apostilled in the issuing country and then translated here, together with the diploma and study plan. If it is already in Panama without an apostille, you arrange that with the relevant authority or a lawyer; Lingo does not provide apostilles, but we tell you the right order. For USCIS, a translation under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) needs no apostille.

The University of Panama, for example, compares courses one by one when it reviews a recognition file. The translation is signed and sealed by a TPA under Executive Decree 975 of 2017.

The university I'm applying to wants my transcript in a sealed envelope. What then?

Most institutions accept a certified translation that includes the translator's statement of accuracy, signature and seal, which is what a MIRE-registered TPA delivers, from $20 for the first 250 words. Some universities, though, require the transcript itself to arrive in a sealed envelope sent by your school. Check that requirement separately with the admissions office before you order.
